In year 3, we love learning and believe we should always try our best. Every day we have maths & English lessons to practise or learn new skills. We also have daily opportunities to read. Each half term we have a new topic and all our learning in foundation subjects is based around this. We have lots of exciting topics this year which you can see through our learning journeys and have plenty of exciting visits and visitors planned including Bereleigh Farm Estate, a mobile Planetarium and Fishbourne Roman Palace. We enjoy visits and visitors as they give us real hands-on experiences which support our learning.
Homework is a vital part of our learning and is set every Wednesday and due in the following Wednesday. This may be a homework project where children choose their tasks or an activity based on maths or English. Each child is also given spellings to learn each Monday ready for a test on Friday.
We know that reading is very important so we read our books at home five times a week to earn a sticker on our school bookmarks. Once we have earned eight stickers we will receive a book prize during celebration assembly.
Being active is very important so we do PE twice a week on a Tuesday & Thursday. Please make sure your child brings their kit, long hair is tied back and jewellery is removed on these days.
Please feel free to make an appointment to talk to your child’s teacher if you have any concerns.
