In Year 2, we enjoy learning and believe in working hard and trying our best at all times. We like to learn in the classroom and also enjoy going on visits and taking part in special events both in and out of school to enrich our learning. Every day we practise our maths and English skills and we also have a different topic each half term. Through our topics we explore and learn about the world around us.
It is very important that we become confident independent learners so we are taught to believe in ourselves and try to overcome our obstacles. We try to support each other, and every day we are learning to work and play well with others to create a safe and happy school community.
Homework is an important part of our learning and we are set homework every Monday and it is due in on a Friday. Our homework is usually spellings and a maths or English task but sometimes we have topic based projects to complete.
We also know that reading is very important so we read our books at home every day and make sure an adult signs our reading record.
Being active is very important for our health and well-being so we do PE twice a week. PE is an important part of our curriculum which supports children to develop skills and take part in regular exercise. It is essential that your child has a full PE kit in school for these lessons. A full P.E. kit consists of black shorts, a coloured T-shirt (the colour of their school team) and plimsolls/trainers.
Please send your child with warm suitable outdoor clothing.
Year Two play an important role in our school council at Cottage Grove Primary School. They help to make decisions that contribute to the running and development of our school.
