I have been a governor at Cottage Grove since September 2016 and I am now the chair of governors. I have worked in schools for the past 30 years, firstly as a teacher and then in different senior positions.
I know Cottage Grove School well, having supported its improvement for the past 6 years when I worked for the city council. When my role came to an end, I was delighted to be asked to join its governing board and to continue to challenge and support the school’s leaders. Cottage Grove has always been one of my favourite schools to visit because there is always a buzz of excitement here, as well as a lot of hard work going on – from staff and pupils alike.
I am proud to live in Portsmouth and not too far from the school. We are lucky to have so much on our doorsteps, such as our rich cultural heritage, fascinating geography and lively arts venues, just to name a few. While I am a governor, I will seek to ensure the school is ambitious for its pupils – I want them to enjoy learning and achieve their very best in their early years and primary education.
